Welcome to Australia, one of the preferred destinations for international students with world-class universities, buzzing cities and promising work opportunities! To ensure a great study experience for international students, Australia has announced a few updates that each international student must know in order to study in Australia. Let’s have a look at the updates announced by the Australian authorities:

Work Permits

48-hour limit

International students will now be able to work up to 48 hours per fortnight during their semesters. It gives them the flexibility to earn while they learn.

Visas

  • This kind of visa for recently passed out engineering graduates has a quota since December 2023. All international students should check with their respective universities for more details on the same.
  • Since October 2023, savings requirements have been revised for international students planning to study in Australia. They now need to show AU$24,505 in savings to manage their annual living costs. So they should plan their funds accordingly.
  • Restrictions have now been imposed on concurrent enrollment by Australia. It means no international student can enroll in two courses simultaneously for the first six months of their main programme. As a result, they need to commence their overseas studies in Australia by focusing on their core studies.
  • Processing time has been reduced immensely by the immigration authorities in Australia which happens to be great news for international students! Their visa applications are now processed in a span of just 16 days on average. Submit your complete documents to avoid any delay in visa processing.

India-Australia agreement

Indian students qualifying from Australian universities will now be able to get their degrees recognized in India for higher studies. Such developments will now open doors for career advancement for domestic students.

Student protection measures

  • A new VET Integrity Unit has been set up by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) to ensure that international students receive The quality education and training programmes while they are studying in Australia. Therefore international students contemplating to study in Australia will be confident about the quality of education as well as their investment.
  • The universities where international students will enroll themselves are going to monitor their attendance more frequently. Such measures will make sure that students get the most out of their studies in Australia.
